Town of Apex invites applications for the position of: LSE Senior Center Aide
Expected hiring range: $16.00/hr

Schedule:
Weekly schedule/number of shifts will vary. Available weekly shifts are Monday-Friday, 4pm-9pm and Sat 9am-3pm. Applicants must be able to provide availability for a min of four week night shifts and two weekend shifts each month to be considered.

How You'll Make An Impact
In this position, you will perform routine clerical, customer service and front desk functions within the Town's Senior Center. This is a limited service position eligible for 20 hours per week or 1,000 per year. Limited Service positions do not have benefits.
How You Will Contribute:
- Performs general office duties and serves as receptionist for the Senior Center.
- Receives and greets the public and employees; gives information concerning visitor's needs; handles most requests independently.
- Answers phones, provides information regarding departmental programs, services, and policies or refers to appropriate person.
- Registers patrons for programs using our registration software (Activenet), collects fees for programs and balances a cash drawer.
- Responds to citizen inquiries and complaints.
- Answers requests for information from customers or the general public who use the Town's services; identifies procedures that address needs or refer customer to proper staff member; follows-up with customers or other processes to insure proper disposition.
- Provides status updates to co-workers and supervisor through oral or written reports.
- Conduct tours of facility and rental space, providing verbal information as well as specified handouts regarding rental process and policies, etc.
- Takes messages, forwards calls, and assists staff with visitors.

- Serves as backup for full time Customer Service Representative as needed.
- Performs related duties as required.
What Sets You Up For Success:
Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and available to work. Please note these positions run year-round.
The preferred candidate will have:
- Cash drawer, general clerical and public contact experience.
- Considerable knowledge of office practices and procedures, grammar, and punctuation.
- Considerable knowledge of word processing, data base maintenance, spreadsheet data entry, and other specific information technology applications.
- Skill in customer service including problem-solving and conflict resolution.
- Ability to utilize on-line registration and data-base programs, to troubleshoot software issues and work with programmatic staff on registration and software issues.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and procedures.
- Ability to type and/or enter data with accuracy at the speed required by the particular program or position utilizing the services of this role.
- Ability to learn and apply filing and coding systems and to arrange and place records, reports, and files into a proper sequence.
- Ability to compile information from data processed or records kept.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public and other employees.
- Ability to deal effectively with the public, possess strong computer skills & handle a wide variety of duties.
