Assistant Principal of Academics

Starting Date: Jul 6, 2026

Contract Length: 225 Days

Reports To: Principal

Primary Role

The ideal candidate will work with school leaders to build and maintain a positive and safe school climate and carry out the school’s academic programs. The role includes performing teacher evaluations, attending and guiding PLC meetings, working with data for overall student and staff growth, and collaborating with school counselors and staff to develop a strong school culture that exemplifies core values.

Required

Experience
  • B.A./B.S. degree from an accredited institution in education and/or a related field
  • Master’s Degree in the specified content area (reading, math, etc.), curriculum and instruction, or administration
  • 5+ years of experience in teaching or school administration
  • 1+ years of experience in MTSS planning and implementation
  • 1+ years of experience in successfully implementing a PBIS (or related) plan
  • Possession of a current North Carolina Professional Educator’s License

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Follow all Board policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all student, parent, and staff information.
  • Collaborate with staff to plan the school’s instructional program.
  • Support and nurture a collaborative work environment for all employees.
  • Practice fair and consistent evaluations of teachers within established timelines.
  • Assist with recruiting and maintaining high‑quality staff.
  • Maintain a good relationship with students, staff, and parents.
  • Provide timely communication of information with staff, parents, and students.
  • Communicate the school’s accomplishments within TMSA, with the school community, and public media.
  • Design scheduling processes and protocols that maximize staff input and address diverse student learning needs.
  • Collaborate with staff to create opportunities for parents, community, and businesses to participate in the school.
  • Be easily accessible to staff and maintain high visibility throughout the school.
  • Effectively delegate tasks to others, providing learning experiences and ensuring efficient operation.
  • Actively seek and apply feedback from staff, parents, and students.
  • Resolve short‑term issues while balancing them against long‑term goals.
  • Analyze student performance data and evaluate progress in the current instructional program.
  • Effectively utilize technology to continuously improve school management and student instruction.
  • Manage time for yourself and staff, including running effective meetings.
  • Monitor and work to improve student and staff attendance.
  • Maintain acceptable student behavior.
  • Establish and maintain a safe environment for all staff and students.
  • Perform teacher formal and informal evaluations.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Position Type: Full‑Time

Salary: $76,000 to $101,150 Per Year
