Job Title: Athletic Trainer

We are seeking an Athletic Trainer to provide direct and indirect care to patients at Duke Orthopaedic Clinic located in Apex, NC
.

• Patient Care Responsibilities — rooming patients, collecting histories, documentation of initial HPI, charting, answering phone calls, completing forms, teaching HEP, and assisting with ambulation using crutches.
• Clerical Duties — prepping clinics, obtaining test results, updating charts, verifying insurance, obtaining authorizations, coordinating referrals and appointments.
• Fulfills EOC Responsibilities — cleaning exam rooms, ordering and stocking supplies, restocking exam rooms, cleaning exam tables, maintaining a safe work environment by checking for expired supplies and medications, and safely disposing of sharps.
• Organizational Duties — promoting patient rights, responding to emergency codes, and following HR, Compliance and Joint Commission policies.
• State-law Based Responsibilities — autoclaving, checking vital signs, suture removal, dressing changes, entering orders based on physician protocols, handling biohazard waste, and applying DME to patients.
• Clinical Skill Development — as assigned by clinic leadership, develop the ability to remove casts, apply basic splints and casts to upper and lower extremities, and accurately fit DME products used in the clinic.
• Post-Operative Evaluation — certain athletic trainers may be assigned to evaluate patients during the first post-operative visit with physician or APP support; a note generated by the ATC will be co-signed by the MD or APP.
• Other duties as assigned by your manager or HCA.

• Bachelor s degree in athletic training or equivalent from a CAATE-accredited program required.
• NATABOC Certification (National Athletic Trainers Association-Board of Certification) required.
