Position: Assembler I

As an Assembler I, you will be responsible for assembling products according to specifications, ensuring that quality control standards are met, and assisting in maintaining a clean and organized work area. This position is part of Novanta’s Robotics & Automation business unit, where you will help create advanced robotic end‑of‑arm technologies.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Reading and interpreting assembly instructions, blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Assembling components or sub‑assemblies using appropriate tools and following specific guidelines and procedures.
  • Inspecting parts for defects or damage.
  • Following safety protocols and ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  • Using hand tools such as wrenches, T‑handles, utility knives, and other similar tools.
  • Operating power tools and a hydraulic press.
  • Applying lubricants and other treatments to assembled products to ensure proper functioning and longevity.
  • Adjusting, repairing, or replacing faulty components of the machinery during and after the assembly process to guarantee optimal performance.
  • Cleaning and organizing workspace and assembly areas.
  • Properly storing equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Reporting any machinery malfunctions, damaged parts, or other issues to supervisors promptly.
  • Working collaboratively with team members to meet production goals on schedule.
  • Installing electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical components and connecting them properly.
  • Conducting inspections of parts and finished products, identifying any defects, and documenting quality issues.
  • Following assembly instructions precisely to construct machinery and equipment.
Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from technical drawings, specifications, technical manuals, and schematics.
  • Proficiency with hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, and pliers.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Manufacturing experience or a strong desire to learn, coupled with consistent attention to detail.
  • Adherence to safety procedures and guidelines.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Base pay ranges from $34,105 to $54,530 per year, depending on geographic market.
  • Additional annual bonuses and other compensation may be available as part of the package.
