CNC Machinist, Machine Operator, Manufacturing & Industrial Operations
CNC Machinist
This role focuses on setting up, programming, and operating CNC milling machines to produce precision components within tight tolerances. You will interpret complex blueprints, write and modify programs directly at the machine, and ensure high-quality output by using precision measuring tools and sound machining practices. The position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple machines and tasks in a climate-controlled machine shop environment.
Responsibilities- Read and interpret detailed blueprints and engineering drawings to determine machining requirements.
- Set up CNC milling machines and accurately indicate parts prior to machining.
- Write programs at the machine directly from drawings, using G-Code and M-Code.
- Modify CNC programs to optimize machining conditions, including feed, speed, depth of cut, and axis movements and positioning.
- Adjust cutters to achieve required tolerances and understand how these adjustments affect current and subsequent programs and tooling.
- Machine parts to very close tolerances and precise fits, consistently meeting specification requirements.
- Use micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools to measure within.
005 mm or 0.0002 inches. - Load programs into CNC machines and pull programs from the server to CNC mills using basic computer skills.
- Read, write, and edit G-Code and M-Code to refine and troubleshoot machining operations.
- Pick up and set zero positions on CNC machines accurately.
- Run multiple machines during long program runs while maintaining quality and throughput.
- Multi-task effectively by preparing the next job before the current job is finished to reduce setup time.
- Monitor machine performance, make necessary adjustments, and ensure parts meet all quality standards.
- Apply a solid understanding of basic machining concepts and how parts interact in assemblies.
