About Blue Hat Mechanical

Blue Hat Mechanical is a rapidly growing HVAC/refrigeration company serving the Triangle area. We’re building something different—a company where competence matters more than credentials, where we solve problems from first principles, and where your growth isn’t limited by arbitrary boundaries. We’re scaling quickly, and we need people who can grow with us.

Our Values
  • Competence Over Credentials - We care about what you can do and your willingness to learn
  • First Principles Thinking - We solve problems systematically, not by consensus
  • Systematic Excellence - We build processes that scale, not just put out fires
  • Direct Communication - No corporate speak, just honest collaboration
  • Continuous Growth - We invest in our people and expect them to invest in themselves
The Role

We need an electrician who is highly motivated in electrical work and excited to expand into HVAC/R systems. You’ll be working on commercial and industrial equipment where electrical and mechanical systems intersect—motor controls, VFDs, control circuits, building automation systems, and HVAC equipment ranging from mini splits to large chillers and boilers. This isn’t just pulling wire; it’s understanding how electrical systems integrate with refrigeration and air‑handling equipment.

What

You’ll Do Electrical Work
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems on commercial HVAC/R equipment
  • Install conduit and electrical raceways to NEC standards
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues independently
  • Read and interpret electrical P&IDs, blueprints, schematics, and mechanical specifications (MCA/MOCP)
  • Install and troubleshoot motors, motor controls, VFDs, and inverter‑rated motors
  • Work with low‑voltage AC/DC control circuits
  • Implement LOTO procedures on simple and complex systems
HVAC/R Work
  • Service and maintain HVAC equipment from mini splits to chillers and boilers
  • Learn refrigeration systems and their integration with electrical controls
  • Collaborate with HVAC technicians on equipment installations and repairs
  • Develop cross‑functional knowledge to become more valuable to clients and the team
Professional Standards
  • Ensure all work complies with NFPA 70/NEC and local codes
  • Maintain safety as the primary focus on every job
  • Coordinate with contractors and team members to complete projects on time and within budget
  • Document work clearly and communicate technical information effectively
Technical Progression Path

We use a clear technician leveling system. As an electrician joining our team, you’ll enter at the appropriate level based on your experience and grow from there:

  • Technician Level 1‑2:
Working under supervision, building HVAC/R knowledge alongside electrical skills
  • Technician Level 3:
Independent electrical work with growing HVAC/R competency
  • Senior Technician:
Leading complex projects, mentoring others, and mastering integrated systems
What You Need Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Either:
Completed recognized electrical apprenticeship program OR 5+ years verifiable commercial/industrial electrician experience
  • Working knowledge of NEC (NFPA 70) and local electrical codes
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, electrical code specs, and P&IDs
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred
  • Strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities
  • Willingness to learn HVAC/R systems and expand your skillset
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Self‑motivated with ability to work independently
What We Offer
  • Competitive compensation based on experience and demonstrated competency
  • Clear growth path with defined skill progression
  • Training and professional development in HVAC/R systems
  • Company vehicle and tools for qualified positions
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • Opportunity to build something meaningful in a growing company
