Position Overview
The Plumbing Project Manager leads and manages teams of project coordinators, superintendents, and field personnel to deliver high-quality plumbing projects with exceptional customer service. This role collaborates closely with senior leadership to align with VMG Mechanical's strategic goals, drive profitability, and ensure successful project outcomes in commercial and industrial mechanical contracting.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning and Execution
- Review bid documents, drawings, and specifications to identify potential risks, opportunities, and omissions prior to project start.
- Develop detailed project schedules that align with budgetary constraints and client expectations.
- Collaborate with preconstruction and operations teams to establish and achieve project goals and milestones.
- Review subcontractor scopes to mitigate risks and ensure comprehensive coverage.
- Track project budgets, monitor financial performance, identify variances or pitfalls, and pursue opportunities to enhance profitability.
- Maintain accurate budget projections and adhere to company policies and contractual standards.
- Foster open communication among project teams, clients, owners, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Organize and lead coordination meetings, site visits, and owner/client discussions.
- Document significant changes in scope, execution, or cost in writing.
- Set clear objectives and goals for team members, delegate tasks effectively, and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Proactively communicate with the entire construction team to ensure alignment and timely issue resolution.
- Ensure all work meets or exceeds industry standards for quality and craftsmanship.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews and job-site walks with clients to confirm satisfaction and minimize callbacks or warranty issues.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients, architects, engineers, general contractors, and subcontractors to support ongoing and future opportunities.
- Initiate new project pursuits and contribute to business growth.
- Schedule subcontractors proactively to optimize project success.
- Monitor employee performance, track progress, and recommend promotions, incentives, or bonuses as appropriate.
- Participate in recruiting, interviewing, training, and supervising high-caliber personnel.
- Assist with hiring recommendations in collaboration with leadership.
- Enforce strict adherence to VMG Mechanical, Modigent, and project-specific safety protocols.
- Ensure all team members utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Coordinate with the safety officer for site inspections and maintain a safe working environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated, punctual, and professional in appearance and demeanor.
- Strong multitasking abilities with exceptional follow-up skills, both internally and externally.
- Proven experience in plumbing project management within commercial or industrial settings.
- Experience with government facilities is a plus.
Pay Range: $80,000 - $130,000 per year
