American Traveler is hiring a NICU RN for a Level III unit requiring 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year in the NICU specialty and a CA RN license.
Requirements- Active CA RN license required, compact license must be in hand at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with at least 1 year in NICU specialty
- Candidates with less than 2 years RN experience but with Level IV NICU experience may be considered
- Required certifications: BLS and NRP (Advanced NRP preferred, or willingness to obtain before start)
- Community hospital experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Prior travel experience required, though candidates with 2+ years of NICU experience may be considered without travel experience
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years, from a comparable specialty/setting
- Work in a Level III NICU averaging 190 births per month within an acute care hospital
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM
- Patient ratio of 1:2-3
- Weekend rotation is every other weekend, and may exceed this to meet unit needs
- No floating required between like units
- No on-call responsibilities
- Uses Epic charting system
- Cares for neonates across gestational ages, including 34 weeks
- Provide comprehensive NICU nursing care including IV therapy, arterial and central line management, UAC/UVC care, and administration of emergency medications
- Manage complex respiratory support including ventilators, oscillators, Vapotherm, high frequency ventilation, and nitric oxide therapy
- Support neonates with conditions such as respiratory distress syndrome, necrotizing enterocolitis, neonatal sepsis, and neonatal abstinence syndrome
- Attend high-risk deliveries and provide therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket) management as needed
- Deliver patient/family teaching and developmental care
- Navy blue scrubs required for RNs

- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- All requested time off must be submitted upfront at time of application, as post-offer requests may not be accommodated
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Local candidates within 50 miles are accepted at a lower bill rate
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler, and must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
- Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities within the same network
