American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Level III NICU position requiring 2 years of RN experience, including 1 year in the specialty, and a CA RN license.
Details- Level III NICU with approximately 190 births per month in an acute care hospital setting
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:00 to 06:30
- Patient ratio of 1:2-3
- Cares for neonates ranging from under 24-28 weeks to over 34 weeks gestation
- May float to Mother/Baby unit for couplet care if experienced
- No on-call requirements
- Works every other weekend, with potential for additional weekends based on unit needs
- Uses Epic charting system
- Active CA RN license required
- Current certifications in BLS and NRP (NRP Advanced preferred; NRP allowed if candidate commits to obtaining Advanced before start)
- PALS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year in NICU specialty required
- Candidates with Level IV NICU experience may be considered with less than 2 years of overall RN experience
- Community hospital experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, UAC/UVC management, and neonatal dosage calculations
- Experience with ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), oscillators, and other respiratory support equipment
- Experience with high-risk deliveries, therapeutic hypothermia, and PICC line management preferred
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
- Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Level III NICU providing advanced neonatal care including respiratory support, cardiovascular monitoring, and management of complex conditions such as NEC and neonatal sepsis
- Responsibilities include APGAR scoring, developmental care, thermoregulation, phlebotomy, and patient/family teaching
- Must be willing to float between sister facilities within the state as needed
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- All RTO requests must be submitted at the time of application, with approval based on facility needs
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate within a 50-mile radius
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travel nurse and must reside outside a 50-mile radius
- Navy blue scrubs required for RNs; scrubs provided for L&D/OR staff
