Description

American Traveler is hiring a Level III NICU RN for night shift with at least 2 years of NICU experience and a valid CA RN license required.

Details
  • Level III NICU with approximately 190 births per month at a community acute care hospital
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (6:00 PM-6:30 AM)
  • Patient ratio of 1:2-3
  • May float to Mother/Baby unit for couplet care if experienced, or for babies only otherwise
  • No on-call requirements
  • Weekend requirement of every other weekend, may exceed to meet unit needs
  • Uses Epic for charting
Requirements
  • Active CA RN license (Compact license accepted, must be in hand at submission)
  • Required certifications: BLS and NRP (Advanced NRP preferred, or willingness to obtain before start)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year in NICU specialty required
  • Candidates with Level IV NICU experience may be considered with less than 2 years overall RN experience
  • Community hospital experience required
  • Prior travel experience required unless candidate has 2+ years of NICU experience
  • Experience with high-risk deliveries, ventilator management, UAC/UVC lines, and neonatal medication administration
  • Skilled in care for neonates ranging from under 24 weeks to over 34 weeks gestation
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
  • Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Provide comprehensive neonatal intensive care including respiratory support, line management, and medication administration
  • Support high-risk deliveries and manage complex neonatal conditions such as NEC, seizure disorders, and neonatal sepsis
  • Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities within the health system
  • Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • All RTO requests must be submitted upfront; post-submission requests may not be accommodated
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
  • Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
  • Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate within a 50-mile radius
  • Navy blue scrubs required for RNs
  • Free parking available on-site
