Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Level III NICU position requiring 2 years of NICU experience and a CA RN license.

Details
  • Level III NICU averaging 190 births per month at an acute care hospital with 212 staffed beds
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 18:00-6:30
  • Patient ratio of 1:2-3
  • Patient population includes neonates under 24-28 weeks, 29-34 weeks, and over 34 weeks
  • Every other weekend required, may exceed to meet unit needs
  • May float to Mother/Baby unit for care of infants, and may float fully if couplet care experience is present
  • No on-call requirements
  • Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
  • Active CA RN license (Compact license must be in hand at submission)
  • Required certifications: BLS, NRP Advanced (candidates may be considered if willing to obtain advanced certification prior to start)
  • PALS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with at least 1 year in NICU specialty
  • Level IV NICU experience may be considered in lieu of the full experience requirement
  • Community hospital experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, UAC/UVC management, and neonatal medication administration
  • Experience with respiratory support including CPAP, HFNC, high frequency ventilation, and ventilator management
  • Experience with high-risk deliveries, therapeutic hypothermia, and NICU IV level care preferred
Additional Information
  • Provide comprehensive neonatal intensive care including respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and infectious disease management
  • Support high-risk deliveries and provide developmental and family-centered care
  • Navy blue scrubs required for RNs
  • Free parking available on-site
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • All RTO requests must be submitted upfront prior to offer, as post-submission requests may not be granted
  • Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities within the region
  • First-time travelers are not accepted unless candidate has 2+ years of NICU experience
  • Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
  • Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate within a 50-mile radius
  • Two supervisory references covering at least 1 year of experience within the last 3 years are required
