Position: ELD / ELA Teacher - Secondary (.4 FTE)

Position Type: .4 FTE – English Learners K‑12 / ELD Teacher – High School

Effective Date of Employment: Beginning of the 2026-27 school year

Job Summary
  • Create and plan ELD curriculum and instruction for English Learners.
  • Teach ELD standards aligned with the curriculum of Independent School District 196.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, specialists, and coaches to support classroom teachers and the needs of multilingual learners.
  • Maintain alignment with district ELD standards and instructional practices.
Qualifications
  • Licensed by the State of Minnesota to teach ESL.
  • Licensed by the State of Minnesota to teach high school English.
  • Strong general academic background.
  • Ability to relate positively to students, staff, and community.
  • Demonstrated planning and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to equity and culturally responsive teaching.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Preferred: demonstrated experience and proficiency working with a culturally, ethnically, racially, and socioeconomically diverse school community.
Compensation / Benefits

According to contractual agreement. Benefits become available to new employees effective the first day of active employment and may include medical, dental, and life insurance, long‑term disability insurance, sick leave, state pension plan, tax‑deferred retirement savings account, flexible spending account, and, for eligible groups, vacation, holidays, or personal leave.
