Understand material & utility usage (air, electricity, water, gas) within multiple processes and be able to quantify potential savings through process changes.
- Optimize existing manufacturing processes to improve safety, cost, quality, and productivity. Anticipate and identify areas of improvement through observation and data analysis with minimal oversight and guidance. Do so by: knowledge and application of LEAN tools (Kaizen events, FMEAs, value stream mapping, the 8 wastes), collaboration with Operations and Maintenance to select and implement Continuous Improvement (CI) suggestions to improve the operation, fundamental understanding of manufacturing equipment or process, from the perspective of one or more engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, etc), and application of Six Sigma tools including use of the DMAIC process, and independent proficiency in simple experimental design and statistical analysis.
- Use good documentation practices, the defined change process, and broad communication, to ensure process changes are made with input from all affected parties and produce consistency across time, machines, and manufacturing sites.
- Provide daily factory support. Function as a process owner in more than one process area. Know your process capabilities and limitations. Quantify and track process capability to enable continuous improvement.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Training, etc. to understand causes and develop robust corrective actions to quality and equipment performance issues.
- Specify, justify, and manage medium sized projects for the installation and qualification of standard or new manufacturing equipment.
