Electrician — part-time/intermittent evenings. The Minnesota Zoo operates on a large campus with multiple buildings and work sites, requiring travel between locations to perform electrical duties in accordance with applicable codes and standards.

• Install, maintain or repair electrical distribution panels and related equipment campus-wide; ensure work orders are completed, systems operate safely, and meet electrical code requirements and NEC standards.
• Provide maintenance to copper and fiber infrastructure, including networking hardware and connectivity for systems such as Energy Management, SCADA, Fire System, and Data networks; ensure safe operation, reliability, and code compliance.
• Implement preventive maintenance programs for electrical components to minimize downtime, energy use, and maintenance costs in buildings and structures.
• Enforce safety practices and ensure compliance with OSHA requirements, rules and regulations.
• Travel between campus locations to perform duties and respond to operational needs; operate a motor vehicle as required and hold a valid driver’s license.

The following qualifications are required. Your resume should clearly describe experience in the required areas, including whether each position was full-time, part-time, or intermittent/on-call, hours per week, and start/end dates.

• Current Minnesota Journeyman Electrician license; registration with the Minnesota State Board of Electricity as a Class A Journeyman or Master Electrician. (Contractor’s license does not meet the requirement.)
• Current and valid driver's license.

• Knowledge of electrical voltages (480, 277, 208, 120; single and three-phase).
• Ability to read blueprints and schematic wiring diagrams.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems; strong knowledge of electrical parts and equipment.
• Ability to maintain project records of time and materials and report progress; willingness to professional growth.
• Demonstrates effort to improve cultural competence and include diversity training in professional development.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Climb stairs and ladders; squat, crouch, stand, and sit for extended periods.
• Work from elevated locations (including lifts, booms, scaffolding); work in confined spaces.
• Work in all weather conditions; ability to stand, walk, sit, and reach; perform repetitive motions with tools.
