Job DescriptionThe Senior Tax Accounting Specialist will provide bookkeeping support services to tax clients with minimal supervision. The role requires strong judgment, prioritization, and independent client management. Responsibilities increase over time to more complex bookkeeping tasks, deliverables, and client engagement across various industries and geographies, with a focus on timely, high‑quality, and accurate work.
Responsibilities- Provide best‑in‑class basic accounting and financial reporting support to clients under direct supervision, emphasizing responsiveness, timeliness, professionalism, and accuracy.
- Execute accounting services including accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliation, journal entries, general ledger, and monthly, quarterly, and year‑end reporting.
- Assist the team to accomplish client deliverables and prepare statements and reports for review.
- Proactively communicate work status, ask timely questions, and seek clarification from the lead to keep work progressing.
- Address basic accounting and software questions, escalating as needed.
- Meet client service expectations by adhering to quality and timely deliverables and meeting time‑budget goals.
- Respond to internal and external team and client inquiries.
- Execute defined processes, share improvement ideas, and promptly communicate roadblocks and inefficiencies.
- Maintain and expand knowledge base of accounting principles and practices.
- Apply learning from one client engagement to the next and share knowledge with fellow team members.
- Stay current with updates on applicable technology platforms and obtain certifications as directed by the supervisor.
- Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field;
Bachelor’s preferred. - 2–4+ years of bookkeeping, accounting, or tax‑related client service experience.
- Strong proficiency in Quick Books Online and Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple client engagements simultaneously.
- Experience reviewing work or providing guidance to junior team members.
- Strong client‑service orientation with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving abilities, and intellectual curiosity.
- Commitment to confidentiality and professional integrity.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills in a fast‑paced environment.
- Enjoys interacting with clients and delivering exceptional service with a consultative approach.
For Madison, the pay range for this position is $21.59 to $37.75 per hour. For Appleton & Janesville, the pay range is $25.00 to $36.00 per hour. Actual compensation is influenced by relevant factors including applicant’s skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
