Appleton Corporate, 2121 East Capitol Drive, Appleton, WI 54911, USA

At Boldt, we build more than complex projects, and we build strong relationships, great teams, and lasting impact.

Boldt is a relationship‑driven construction company where people, trust, and collaboration come first. As part of the Boldt team, you’ll work alongside knowledgeable professionals who value integrity, innovation, and continuous improvement. We invest deeply in our employees, recognizing individual contributions, supporting growth, and creating an inclusive culture where everyone has the opportunity to Build Boldly and make a meaningful impact on the business and the communities we serve.

In this role, we’re looking for an experienced payroll professional who brings both technical expertise and people‑focused leadership. You’ll lead full‑cycle payroll operations in a fast‑paced construction environment, managing weekly payroll for both union and non‑union employees while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality. Beyond day‑to‑day processing, you’ll partner closely with HR, Benefits, Finance, and external agencies to enhance processes, leverage payroll data, support audits and reporting, and drive system improvements.

This role plays a key part in keeping payroll operations running smoothly and reliably across the organization.

We’re seeking someone who thrives in a high‑volume, deadline‑driven environment, enjoys solving complex problems, streamlining workflows, and mentoring team members. If you’re passionate about continuous improvement and building strong cross‑functional relationships, this is a great opportunity to make an impact. This position also offers strong opportunities for growth and advancement, making it an ideal role for someone looking to expand their leadership and payroll expertise over time.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $79,850–$103,316 annually. This information reflects the anticipated base salary for this position based on current market data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual’s skills, experiences, education, and other job‑related factors permitted by law.

What You Bring
  • A Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of full‑cycle payroll experience, including union and non‑union environments, tax reporting, and general accounting.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience, with the ability to coach, guide, and support payroll team members.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and compliance, with a proven ability to work confidentially and accurately.
  • Experience owning payroll systems, leveraging data, and creating reports to support audits and reconciliations.
  • A passion for process improvement, with experience documenting, streamlining, and optimizing payroll workflows.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft 365, with strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Clear, effective communication skills, and a collaborative approach to working with HR, Benefits, Finance, and field teams.
Nice to Have
  • Experience supporting payroll operations in a construction industry setting.
  • Exposure to system implementations, integrations, or upgrades within payroll or HRIS platforms.
  • Familiarity with fringe reporting, wage attachments, expense reimbursements, and travel pay.
  • Experience assisting with GL reconciliations or audit preparation.
  • A continuous‑improvement mindset with interest in automation and technology‑enabled solutions.
