Senior Tax Accounting Specialist
The main responsibility of the Senior Tax Accounting Specialist is to provide bookkeeping support services to tax clients with minimal supervision. They apply their own judgement, prioritize their work, and work with the client independently. This role will take on more complex bookkeeping tasks and deliverables, and is expected to complete deliverables for the tax team and tax clients in a timely manner with high quality and accuracy.
The Specialist manages multiple clients across various industries and geographies, meeting deadlines and balancing priorities.
- Provide best-in-class basic accounting and financial reporting support to clients, emphasizing responsiveness, timeliness, professionalism, and accuracy.
- Conduct accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliation, journal entries, general ledger entries, and monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting.
- Support the tax team to accomplish client deliverables and prepare statements and reports for review.
- Proactively communicate the status of work, ask timely questions, and seek clarification from leads to keep engagements on track.
- Answer accounting and software questions, escalating as needed.
- Meet client-service expectations by delivering quality client deliverables on time and within budget.
- Respond to questions and concerns from team members and clients, both internal and external.
- Execute defined processes and procedures, sharing ideas or recommendations for improvements.
- Communicate roadblocks and inefficiencies promptly as they arise.
- Maintain and expand knowledge of accounting principles and practices, applying learning across engagements.
- Stay current with updates and improvements on applicable technology platforms and obtain certifications as directed.
- 4-year degree.
- 3+ years of bookkeeping, accounting, or tax-related client service experience.
- Strong proficiency in Quick Books Online and Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word).
- Ability to work independently while overseeing multiple client engagements simultaneously.
- Experience reviewing work or guiding junior team members.
- Strong client-service orientation with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and intellectual curiosity.
- Commitment to confidentiality and professional integrity.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Enjoys interacting with clients and delivering exceptional service with a consultative approach.
For Madison, the pay rate range is $21.59 to $37.75 per hour. For Appleton and Janesville, the pay rate range is $25.00 to $36.00 per hour. Actual compensation depends on relevant factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, certifications, work arrangements, and geographic location.
