The Accounting Specialist supports financial operations by performing accounting and administrative tasks, maintaining confidentiality, and upholding credit union values in all interactions. The role ensures accuracy in daily transaction processing, general ledger reconciliation, and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities- Daily balancing (70%)
- Reconciling daily transactions
- Reconciling bank statements
- Preparing and posting journal entries
- Accounts Payable (20%)
- Invoice processing
- Weekly AP processing
- Vendor management
- 1099 MISC and NEC
- Month End (5%)
- Month-end journal entries
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations
- In‑house account reconciliations
- Other (5%)
- Regulatory reporting
- Submit tax payments
- Escheat and stale/dated financial instruments
- Keep procedures up to date
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
- 2–4 years of accounting experience; credit union or financial institution experience is a plus
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
