Job Description & How to Apply Below

Wisconsin Conservation Voices (WCV), a nonpartisan sister organization to Wisconsin Conservation Voters, is seeking an adept and innovative content creator to join our communications team to build and engage digital audiences for the Wisconsin Native Vote program. The Native Vote Content Creator will work closely with the WCV communications team and the Wisconsin Native Vote team to develop culturally relevant and engaging online content to reach Native audiences across Wisconsin.

This is a limited‑term employment position for 12 months with the possibility of extension and can be full‑time or part‑time with a minimum of 18 hours per week. The position can be located anywhere in Wisconsin, but the holder must be able to travel regularly to Tribal lands across the state and to Milwaukee.

Who We Are

Wisconsin Native Vote is a program of Wisconsin Conservation Voices and has helped significantly increase voter turnout in Tribal communities across the state since 2011. Wisconsin Conservation Voices centers community voices to build a clean environment, healthy communities, and a thriving democracy. Wisconsin Native Vote is a nonpartisan program dedicated to improving voting access for Native people in Wisconsin. Based in the community, working with Native people and Tribal nations, we educate voters, register people to vote, and improve voting policies.

What

You’ll Do
  • Content creation: develop and produce original multimedia content—including memes, short‑form videos, and posts—to educate and engage followers.
  • Build an online audience and engage community members: foster an interactive online community by responding to comments and messages promptly, moderating discussions to maintain a positive environment, encouraging user‑generated content and amplifying voices from within the community, and increasing the volunteer base through online engagement.
  • Social media management: manage our presence across major platforms (Instagram, Facebook, You Tube, Tik Tok, threads/Bluesky, etc.), tailoring content and messaging to each platform’s audience and best practices, consistently posting, monitoring, and engaging with the community.
  • Culturally relevant storytelling: ensure all content is culturally respectful and relevant, highlight Indigenous perspectives, traditional ecological knowledge, community events, Native popular culture, and success stories in climate, voting rights, and public health advocacy. Work closely with Tribal community members and leaders when crafting stories to honor cultural values and protocols.
  • Campaign support: collaborate with communications and advocacy teams to support opioid, voting rights, climate, and/or water campaigns. Translate campaign goals into digital content (e.g., educational threads, calls‑to‑action, event promotions) and coordinate with colleagues to maintain consistent, impactful messaging across all channels.
  • Analytics and improvement: track social media metrics and content performance using analytics tools, provide regular insights on engagement, reach, and follower growth, and use data to refine strategy over time. Experiment with new content formats or trends (e.g., live streams, Instagram takeovers) and research algorithms and best practices to reach the right audiences.
  • Editorial calendar: assist in developing and maintaining a social media content calendar aligned with seasonal events, campaign timelines, and relevant cultural dates (e.g., Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Earth Day).
Who You Are

To be successful in this role you will be creative, have experience building and engaging online audiences, managing social media accounts, and exhibit cultural awareness and sensitivity to Native values.

Required Qualifications
  • One to three years of experience in social media content creation, digital marketing, communications, or a related field. Evidence of building an online audience is required.
  • Proven ability to create compelling content on major social media platforms (Tik Tok, Instagram, Facebook, Threads/Bluesky, You Tube). Familiarity with each platform’s features and best practices for engagement is required.
