Position Overview
The Audio Visual Technician, Law School will assist the Law School’s Media and Technology team to support AV needs throughout Eckstein Hall, including the Lubar Center. The employee will maintain and deploy a wide variety of AV equipment used to produce successful events, conferences, and classes. This customer‑focused position requires a wide range of technical knowledge and strong troubleshooting skills.
Responsibilities- Pre‑production event consultation, working with faculty, staff, students, and occasionally members of the community in the planning and execution of successful events.
- Live event management, including sound reinforcement, A/V recording and live streaming, camera control and switching, and video post‑production using Adobe Premiere. Event photography is also included.
- Building automation control utilizing Crestron, Biamp, and Dante. Smart classrooms play a pivotal role at the Law School, and having them function properly is a priority.
- General help desk and technical support, including Microsoft 365, as well as a wide variety of PC and Mac issues.
- Website event creation using Drupal CMS and Wufoo web forms.
- A broad range of other technical equipment maintenance.
- Assist in managing student workers.
- On‑the‑job learning and training to keep up with the latest tech hardware and software.
Skills and Abilities
- Associate degree in a related technical field.
- Minimum of one year of related experience.
- Experience with Video Displays, Microphones, Cameras, Crestron Automation, You Tube Live Video Switching, PC Computers, Mac Computers.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and find solutions.
- Great customer service skills and the ability to teach faculty, staff, students, and visiting guests on AV equipment.
- Ability to work flexible hours if needed for morning, evening, and weekend events.
