Job Summary:

The Project Designer [I/II/III] supports SC Swiderski's design process by providing technical design and documentation of residential, multifamily, and mixed-use projects from conceptual design through construction documents. This position serves as a primary design resource, coordinates consultants, mentors staff, and helps ensure projects meet company standards for quality, constructability, schedule, and client expectations. This position plays a key role in ensuring design documents are accurate, code-compliant, and aligned with SCS standards for quality, efficiency, and innovation.

As employees progress through Levels I, II & III, they assume greater independence, technical complexity, project leadership, mentoring responsibility, and company-wide influence over design standards and practices.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • The Project Designer I assists the architectural design and technical development of assigned projects.
  • Prepares construction documents for permit and construction.
  • Ensures drawings are accurate, coordinated, and code compliant.
  • Develops creative and practical design solutions while maintaining project budgets and schedules.
  • Coordinates revisions throughout the design process.
  • Maintains company drafting and documentation standards.
  • Assists in developing standard details and production efficiencies.
  • Tracks consultant deliverables and incorporate revisions.
  • Tracks project milestones and internal deadlines.
  • Reviews shop drawings and submittals.
  • Assists with field observations and site visits.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive Company information professionally.
Qualifications Qualifications Education  &

Experience:
  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in architecture, interior design, or a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in architectural design, drafting or a closely related field.
  • 3+ years of Revit experience.
  • 2+ years of wood-frame multifamily design experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Familiarity with Wisconsin specific building codes.
  • Proficiency in reading architectural plans and understanding building materials;
  • Strong knowledge of construction documentation
Work Schedule:

The work schedule for the Design Specialist [I/II/III] generally requires 40 to 45 hours per week, Monday-Friday, with occasional hours outside of that range, including evenings, as business necessitates. Occasional in-state travel may be required.

Work Environment:

Work is performed primarily in a professional office setting with collaboration across Development, Design, Construction, Project Management, Marketing, consultants, municipalities, and company leadership. Occasional work at properties, development sites, and active construction sites is required.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit at a computer workstation for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to move safely on construction sites, undeveloped land, and uneven terrain.
  • Ability to work in person at the corporate office and lift or carry up to 30 pounds as business needs require.
Special Requirements :
  • Ability to dress in professional attire for public events and municipal meetings.
  • Must have a valid Class D driver’s license to work on our job/property sites,
  • Occasional travel to properties, development sites, construction sites, and company events.
  • Ability to attend and present at public municipal meetings in person or virtually during evening hours as business necessitates.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines as business needs require.
