Job Description SummaryAdjunct Instructors are responsible for facilitating student learning and continuously developing instructional strategies that meet the needs of students and employers, promoting student success.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Learning Facilitation – Foster student learning by developing appropriate instructional strategies for diverse student needs and support student engagement. Create learning experiences that integrate multiple delivery methodologies and instructional technologies to maximize student success, such as hybrid, in‑person, virtual, and online course delivery.
- Assessment – Assess student learning and provide regular feedback to help students succeed. Use data to measure outcomes related to persistence, retention, completion rate, and course success, and design improvement strategies based on evidence.
- Classroom Management – Maintain accurate attendance and grade records, uphold safety, housekeeping, and equipment security, and provide opportunities for student/engagement evaluation.
- Team Participation – Engage with the division, department, and team members, staying current with internal and external changes and initiatives.
- Business & Community Engagement – Build and maintain relationships with community, industry, and clinical partners, proactively promoting the College and its programs.
- Student Success & Support – Advocate for students and collaborate with Student Services staff to retain students, close achievement gaps, and help all students succeed.
- Professional Development – Continuously improve knowledge and skills in emerging trends, current occupational practices, and teaching through professional development, networking with industry leaders, and integrating new techniques and technology.
- Associate degree or higher in a related field.
- Minimum of four years occupational experience in the field of the program or programs being taught, of which at least one year within the last five years. One year of related occupational experience may be waived if there are at least two years of post‑secondary teaching experience in the appropriate field within the last five years.
- Recent broad‑based automotive collision repair experience preferred.
- Teaching or training experience desirable.
- Qualified per FVTC requirements at the time of and throughout employment as an instructor.
- Meet and maintain Higher Learning Commission requirements, Faculty Quality Assurance Standards, and other job‑specific licensing standards.
- ASE, I‑CAR, or OEM credentials required within the first year of hire.
- Air Conditioning certification preferred; required to teach classes involving AC equipment.
- Proficiency using a learning management system.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Adapt quickly to changing demands, assignments, and circumstances.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with various audiences.
- Engage in continuous improvement, embracing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods.
- Background check will be conducted prior to hire; information will be considered in determining suitability.

Physical Requirements- Mobility for attending meetings, facility tours, and teaching in the lab.
- Occasional lifting and carrying of light to moderate items (up to 50 pounds).
- Climbing stairs or ladders and moving safely around vehicles in the lab.
- Fine motor skills for precise hand movements, such as writing on a whiteboard or using instructional technology.
- Repetitive motions such as typing without discomfort or injury.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Travel may be required for off‑site teaching, fieldwork, or professional development.
- Qualified to operate a vehicle or equipment, as required in the position.
