Job Description Summary
:
Adjunct Instructors are responsible for the facilitation of student learning and the on‑going development of instructional strategies that promote student success.
- Learning Facilitation – Foster student learning by developing appropriate instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs and support engagement. Employ learning experiences that integrate multiple delivery methodologies and instructional technologies to maximize student success, such as hybrid, in‑person, virtual, and online delivery.
- Assessment – Assess student learning and provide regular feedback. Use data to measure quality outcomes and implement improvement strategies based on evidence.
- Classroom Management – Maintain accurate attendance/grade records, ensure a safe environment, and support student engagement.
- Team Participation – Engage with the department and stay current with internal and external changes and initiatives.
- Business & Community Engagement – Build and maintain relationships with community, industry, and clinical partners; promote the College and its programs.
- Student Success & Support – Serve as an advocate for students; collaborate with Student Services to retain students and close achievement gaps.
- Professional Development – Continually improve knowledge and skills; maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System and licensure requirements.
- Curriculum Development – Develop competency‑based curriculum and instructional materials aligned with employer expectations and college policy.
- Associate degree or higher in nursing, health, fitness, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred).
- Minimum 2 years of occupational RN experience, including at least one year supervising nursing assistants in a long‑term care agency; at least one year employment within the last five years. Five years of experience preferred.
- Experience assessing clients in acute care, long‑term care, and community nursing.
- Prior teaching or training experience preferred.
- Qualified under FVTC requirements at time of hire and throughout employment.
- Must meet HLC, FQAS, and other licensing standards.
- Registered Nurse with active Wisconsin licensure.
- Credentialed as Primary NA Instructor through an approved DHS program, or willing to obtain credential.
- Meet clinical documentation requirements.
- Adapt quickly to changing demands and assignments.
- Effective professional communication.
- Plan, organize, instruct, and facilitate quality education programs.
- Background check required prior to hire.
- Mobility – Move around classroom and clinical space.
- Standing & Sitting – Stand for lectures; sit for grading and administrative tasks.
- Lifting & Carrying – Handle teaching materials and equipment.
- Speech & Hearing – Clear communication with students.
- Fine Motor Skills – Manual dexterity for demonstrations and technology use.
- Visual Acuity – Adequate vision for reading and operating equipment.
- Health & Safety – Ensure safe learning environment.
- Travel – Off‑site teaching, fieldwork, or professional development.
- Repetitive Motions – Typing without discomfort.
- Communication – Verbal and written skills for interacting with stakeholders.
- Hybrid environment – both in‑person and virtual.

Additional InformationHourly pay rate: $45.00 per hour. Pay based on experience, qualifications, education, certifications, equity, and market data.
Adjunct instructors are hired on a per‑course basis, 3–8.75 hrs/week, including day, evening, and weekend classes. Courses are taught in traditional and alternative delivery formats.
