Adjunct Instructor – Construction Management

Position:
Adjunct Instructor in Construction Management at Fox Valley Technical College, located at S.J. Spanbauer Aviation & Industrial Center.

Work hours:

8.75 hours per week.

• Facilitate student learning through the development of instructional strategies that meet diverse needs and support engagement.
• Integrate instructional technologies and multiple delivery methodologies such as hybrid, in‑person, virtual, and online course delivery.
• Assess student learning, provide regular feedback, and use data to measure quality outcomes related to persistence, retention, completion, and course success.
• Develop and revise competency‑based curriculum and instructional materials aligned with employer expectations and college policy.
• Manage classroom: maintain accurate attendance and grade records, ensure safety and equipment security, provide course materials to students.
• Participate in division, department, and team activities, including planning, development, and budgeting.
• Engage with community, industry, and clinical partners; participate in advisory committees, external meetings, business visits, and recruitment events.
• Advocate for student success; collaborate with Student Services to retain students and close achievement gaps; advise on schedules and career information.
• Engage in professional development to improve knowledge and skills; maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and any required licensure.

• Associate degree or higher in Construction, Architecture, Engineering, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred).
• Minimum two years of occupational experience in the target job, at least one year within five years prior to hire (or waived if two years of post‑secondary teaching experience).
• OSHA Certified Trainer.
• Prior teaching or training experience preferred.
• Must meet and maintain Higher Learning Commission requirements, Faculty Quality Assurance Standards, and other necessary licensing standards.

• Valid driver’s license and subject to a motor vehicle records check.
• Experience in commercial construction and/or design required.
• Proficiency with MS Office, Bluebeam, Procore, Revit, and learning management systems.
• Strong verbal communication and ability to adapt quickly to changing demands.

• Mobility, standing, sitting, lifting and carrying as required by instruction.
• Clear speech, hearing, fine motor skills, and visual acuity to conduct instruction.
• Capacity to ensure a safe learning environment and respond to emergencies.
• Travel and occasional climbing of stairs or ladders may be required.

Work may occur in classroom, online, and outdoors during both daytime and nighttime hours, and in all weather conditions. Work must be completed in person.

• Hours and course schedule vary by course; adjunct instructors are hired on a per‑course basis.
