Trainer – Leadership Development

Job Description Summary
This individual will work with representatives from business, service, industry, education, and government to provide training and technical assistance on a cost‑recovery basis. Flexibility in the work schedule is essential. The Trainer is contracted to teach 38 weeks per year over a 52‑week timeframe.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily and successfully to be qualified for the position. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Business/Industry/Community Instruction – Develop and deliver customized training for various clients and maintain involvement with business/industry/community. Seek and prepare revenue‑producing contracts. Produce revenue for 100% cost recovery of position and course expenditures.
  • Learning Facilitation – Foster student learning by developing appropriate instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs and support student engagement. Create learning experiences that integrate instructional technologies to maximize student success and multiple delivery methodologies such as hybrid, in‑person, virtual, and online course delivery.
  • Curriculum Development – Develop and continually revise curriculum and instructional materials that are competency‑based, current, consistent with employer expectations, and aligned with the college policy on level of required documentation.
  • Classroom Management – Fulfill assigned schedule, maintain accurate student attendance and grade records, maintain instructional environment with emphasis on safety, housekeeping, and equipment security, and ensure opportunities for student/engagement evaluation. Ensure course materials are available to students.
  • Team Participation – Support the college by engaging in division, department, and team activities, and meetings including planning, development, and budgeting, and staying current with internal and external changes and initiatives.
  • Student Support and Guidance – Advise and support students as a coach and role model in the achievement of their learning and career goals.
  • Professional Development – Continually improve knowledge and skills in emerging trends, current occupational practices, and teaching through professional development activities, networking with regional industry leaders, and the integration of new techniques and technology. Maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and licensure required to maintain individual and program accreditation.
Non‑Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Deliver impactful individual and employee training programs that enhance workforce skills, maximize productivity, and boost a company's competitive edge.
  • Design customized training solutions that align with a company's strategic goals and objectives.
  • Flexibility in schedule, including availability for evening assignments.
  • A commitment to the mission, purpose, and values of the College.
Minimum Qualifications

Education / Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related and appropriate field required (e.g., Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, etc.). Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of at least two years of occupational experience in a related field, with at least one year in the past year. 3‑5 years occupational experience preferred.
  • Prior teaching or training experience preferred.
  • Ability to plan, organize, instruct, and facilitate quality education programs, including development of relevant curriculum.
  • Qualified per FVTC requirements at time of, and throughout employment as an instructor. Must also meet and maintain Higher Learning Commission (HLC) requirements, Faculty Quality Assurance Standards (FQAS), and/or other job‑specific licensing standards.
