Dual Credit Instructor – Overview
Dual Credit Instructors facilitate student learning and develop instructional strategies that promote student success. They teach Fox Valley Technical College courses at high schools, allowing students to earn college credits while remaining at their high school. This partnership offers teachers an opportunity to enrich their professional experience and help students become career and college ready.
Key Responsibilities- Learning Facilitation – Design and implement instruction to meet diverse student needs and promote engagement through multiple delivery methodologies, including hybrid, in‑person, virtual, and online formats.
- Assessment – Evaluate student learning, provide regular feedback, use data to measure outcomes, and apply improvement strategies based on evidence.
- Classroom Management – Maintain accurate attendance and grade records, ensure a safe instructional environment, and manage student engagement.
- Team Participation – Collaborate with the department, K‑12 Partnerships office, and stay current with internal and external initiatives; promote the College and its programs.
- Student Success & Support – Advocate for students, work with Student Services to retain students and close achievement gaps, and help all students succeed.
- Professional Development – Continuously improve knowledge and skills in emerging trends, industry practices, and teaching methods; maintain current employment in the field and DPI licensure.
- Must be employed as a K‑12 teacher within the agreed school district.
- Educational requirements vary by discipline – associate degree or the required level for the course, and a Master’s degree or higher in a History discipline, a related discipline with 18+ graduate credits in History, or a related discipline with a DPI license in History.
- At least two years of full‑time (or 4,000 hours part‑time) occupational experience in the program’s target job; one year within the last five years is required; one year may be waived for instructors with two years of post‑secondary teaching experience in the field.
- Current DPI license (required at time of application).
- Proficiency in learning management systems and strong verbal communication skills.
- High school teachers must hold a current DPI license.
- Any additional relevant certifications.
- Ability to use learning management systems effectively.
- Strong verbal communication and adaptation to changing demands.
- Mobility:
Move around the classroom or instructional space. - Standing and sitting:
Stand for extended periods and sit for grading, office hours, and administrative tasks. - Lifting and carrying:
Handle teaching materials, equipment, or props up to 50 pounds. - Speech and hearing:
Clear speech and the ability to hear students. - Fine motor skills:
Manual dexterity for writing, experimenting, and using instructional technology. - Visual acuity:
Adequate vision to read and operate instructional equipment. - Health and safety:
Ensure a safe learning environment and respond to emergencies. - Repetitive motions:
Type and perform other repetitive tasks without discomfort.
Work is typically performed in a classroom and/or online via a learning management system during the day. Instruction may be completed in person or online depending on College needs.
