Description
The Assistant Principal is accountable to the principal of the school to which assigned. The Assistant Principal assumes administrative and supervisory tasks as directed by the principal. The Assistant Principal is authorized to act in the absence of the principal as directed. The Assistant Principal is responsible for working as an integral member of the school's administrative team and Curricular Leadership team to ensure timely and high-quality implementation of the school improvement plan (SIP).
This position will serve elementary grades at either an elementary school or a K-8 school.
Master’s Degree in Administrative Leadership and Supervision
Licenses and Certifications- Minimum of three years of teaching and/or administrative experience.
- Must have or be eligible for Wisconsin certification as a principal.
- Must obtain certification in Educator Effectiveness.
- Demonstrated success in providing differentiated learning opportunities for learners and the ability to take this success to scale with staff in a professional development capacity that includes job-embedded opportunities.
- Is an instructional leader with experience in instructional strategies for English Language Learners and students with special education needs.
- Understand how to use multiple sources of data to inform daily decisions to improve instructional practice and instill this practice in staff.
- Pursues and helps support innovative ideas and methods, remain committed to seeking out and sharing current research and evidence-based best practices.
- Demonstrates an unyielding commitment to continuous improvement and an unwavering belief that all students can achieve at high levels.

- Strong management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse group of leaders.
- Capability to effectively build, develop, and maintain strong collaborative relationships with staff, teachers, parents, students, and community stakeholders to ensure that the school operates in the most effective manner possible to support the school and directing principal needs.
- Ability to self‑direct and prioritize among competing goals, exhibit flexibility, and help drive results in a fast‑paced environment.
- Adept at thinking strategically, translating plans into action, and exhibiting excellent judgment.
- Excellent written, verbal communication, and listening skills with keen attention to detail.
- Demonstrates a high level of moral imperative to work in the best interest of children.
- Demonstration of high levels of integrity, honesty, credibility, and courage to make difficult yet necessary decisions is a must.
- Assists the principal in serving as the instructional and organizational leader of the school.
- Assumes daily operational tasks that include but are not limited to the following responsibilities: student and teacher scheduling, student transportation, student activities, establishing and maintaining student discipline, arranging and participating in conferences with students, teachers, counselors, and parents and maintaining necessary anecdotal records including I.E.P. Conferences.
- Conducts classroom observations and teacher evaluations and any other building employee at the direction of the principal.
- Provides service to staff members through orientation activities, counseling, faculty meetings, instructional materials, and curriculum development activities.
- Assists the principal with public relations functions including P.T.A. general and board meetings, developing and contacting community resources to be used as a supplement to the curriculum including newspaper, radio, and television.
- Serves as the building administrator in the absence of the principal.
- Attends regularly scheduled Data Team Meetings.
