The Appleton Area School District has a position available for a 1.0 FTE LMC/Recess/Instructional Paraprofessional at Houdini Elementary School beginning on 08/24/2026.
Salary: Starting at $16.50
Schedule: 35 hours/week (M-F 8:00am - 3:30pm)

What you'll do
The Paraprofessional will serve as an advocate for students who encounter barriers to academic achievement and participation in the school environment. This position works collaboratively with the Dean of Students and school staff to ensure a positive, safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environment for all students. The paraprofessional supports students who may be disengaged from learning by building positive relationships, promoting self-regulation, and implementing proactive behavioral and restorative practices that strengthen student connections within the school community.
Essential Responsibilities
- Support students across all school environments including classrooms, hallways, lunchroom, recess, arrival/dismissal, and other school activities.
- Build positive relationships with students to encourage engagement, belonging, and academic success.
- Serve as an advocate for students experiencing behavioral, emotional, social, or academic barriers.
- Collaborate directly with the Dean of Students and school staff to support individual student needs and school wide behavior systems.
- Implement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) practices to reinforce expected behaviors and maintain a supportive learning environment.
- Apply non-violent crisis intervention strategies to de-escalate situations and maintain student and staff safety.
- Support students in developing self-regulation, problem-solving, communication, and social-emotional skills.
- Monitor and document student behaviors, interventions, and progress as directed.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Dean of Students or administration.
