What You’ll Do

The Associate Principal-Activities Director is a 260-day administrative leader responsible for the comprehensive oversight and coordination of all high school co-curricular programs, including athletics, clubs, and academic activities. This role focuses on fostering a welcoming environment that promotes student learning and sportsmanship through the creation of diverse participation opportunities. Key duties include recruitment, supervision, and evaluation of coaching staff and advisors, as well as management of program budgets, equipment inventories, and facility scheduling.

The administrator also ensures strict compliance with pupil nondiscrimination laws and WIAA guidelines while maintaining safety plans and eligibility standards for all extracurricular events. In addition, the Activities Director serves as a vital community liaison, building strong partnerships with booster clubs, parent groups, and feeder schools to enhance the district’s athletic pipeline. This position requires a collaborative leader who can balance instructional leadership for teaching staff with the logistical demands of event management, including evening and weekend attendance at contests.

Essential Function

The Associate Principal-Activities Director will provide overall leadership and coordination among the various sports and academic activities to facilitate programs that provide students with valuable experiences that promote learning and sportsmanship in a welcoming environment.

Qualifications
  • Holds Wisconsin DPI K-12 Administrator license (5051 – Principal) or willingness to obtain license
  • Hold Educator license
  • Previous experience as a coach
  • Overall knowledge of the athletic program
  • Ability to travel off-campus to off-site venues (including Nienhaus Sports Complex)
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience
  • Current knowledge of laws relating to athletic programs
  • Demonstrated ability to make independent judgments and decisions
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all aspects of sports and high school activities programs
  • Demonstrated leadership and sportsmanship skills, effective communication skills, as demonstrated by sound working relationships with student athletes, parents, administrators, other coaching and teaching colleagues, and conference coaches
  • Ability to work closely and collaborate with school stakeholders including building administrators, educators, staff, students, families, and the broader community
  • Fosters positive relationships and school-community partnerships

  • Actively researches and creates diverse opportunities for students to participate in co-curriculars
