Job Description Summary
Instructors are responsible for the facilitation of student learning and the ongoing development of curriculum that meets the needs of students and employers utilizing instructional strategies that promote student success. These positions primarily teach Anatomy & Physiology, including General and Advanced A&P, Human Biology, Animal Biology, and Basic Anatomy. (38‑Week Contract for both positions.)
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Learning Facilitation – Foster student learning by developing appropriate instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs and support engagement. Create learning experiences that integrate instructional technologies to maximize success across hybrid, in‑person, virtual, and online modalities.
- Assessment – Assess student learning, provide regular feedback, and use data to measure quality outcomes related to persistence, retention, completion, and course success. Design improvement strategies based on evidence.
- Curriculum Development – Develop and continually revise competency‑based curriculum and instructional materials aligned with employer expectations and college policy.
- Classroom Management – Maintain accurate attendance and grade records, ensure a safe instructional environment, and provide necessary course materials.
- Team Participation – Engage in division, department, and team activities including planning, development, budgeting, and staying current with internal and external initiatives.
- Business & Community Engagement – Build and maintain relationships with community, industry, and clinical partners, participate in advisory committees, and proactively promote the college and programs.
- Student Success & Support – Serve as an advocate for students, collaborate with Student Services to retain students, close achievement gaps, and advise on schedules, careers, internships, and other program information.
- Professional Development – Continually improve knowledge and skills through emerging trends, networking with industry leaders, and integrating new techniques and technologies. Maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and licensure required for accreditation.
- Master’s degree or higher in Anatomy & Physiology (MD, DO, DC, DVM preferred) or a related discipline with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in Human Anatomy.
- Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction licensure in science discipline, or the specific subfield being taught.
- Previous teaching and/or curriculum development experience in Anatomy or a related discipline preferred.
- Experience delivering instruction across multiple modalities (in‑person, online, hybrid) preferred.
- Upon hire, must meet and maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System (FQAS) requirements and any licensure required by accrediting or regulatory agencies.
- Proficiency utilizing a learning management system.
- Strong verbal communication skills and ability to adapt quickly to changing demands.
- Engagement in continuous improvement through innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods.
Work is typically performed in a classroom, online, or hybrid environment. The exact setting may change based on college needs.
Physical Requirements- Mobility:
Move around the instructional space, walk between desks or workstations. - Standing and Sitting:
Stand for extended periods during lectures or demonstrations, sit for grading, office hours, and administrative tasks. - Lifting and Carrying:
Lift and carry teaching materials, equipment, or props as needed. - Speech and Hearing:
Clear speech and ability to hear student questions and interactions. - Fine Motor
Skills:
Precise hand movements for activities such as writing on a whiteboard or using instructional technology. - Visual Acuity:
Adequate vision to read course materials, assess student work, and operate instructional equipment. - Health and Safety:
Ability to ensure a safe learning environment, respond to emergencies, and address physical hazards. - Travel:
