Adjunct Instructors facilitate student learning and develop instructional strategies that meet the needs of students and employers while promoting student success. They contribute to the continuous improvement of program/course content and delivery, support the college’s core values, and engage in collaborative environments. Adjunct instructors work with students beyond the classroom, demonstrate commitment to excellence, and use technology to enhance learning.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Foster student learning by designing appropriate instructional strategies that meet diverse student needs and support engagement.
- Assess student learning, provide regular feedback, and use data to improve course outcomes.
- Maintain accurate attendance and grade records and uphold classroom safety, housekeeping, and equipment security.
- Participate in departmental activities, stay current with internal and external initiatives, and support the college community.
- Build and maintain relationships with community, industry, and clinical partners and promote the college.
- Advocate for students and collaborate with Student Services to retain students and close achievement gaps.
- Pursue professional development, keep faculty quality assurance system requirements, and meet licensure requirements for accreditation.
- Develop curriculum and instructional materials that are competency‑based, up‑to‑date, aligned with employer expectations, and consistent with college policies.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a minor or major in ESL, TEFL, VESL, TESL, Applied Linguistics, Bilingual Education, or Foreign Language instruction (Master’s preferred).
- OR a Bachelor’s degree with 15 semester credits in the above fields (Master’s preferred).
- Preferred experience with online synchronous and asynchronous instruction.
- Familiarity with learning management systems (Collaborate, Blackboard, Teams, etc.) and student success tools; knowledge of a foreign language is highly desirable.
- Proficiency using a learning management system.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Adaptability to changing demands and circumstances.
- Graduate from faculty quality assurance systems and other applicable accreditation requirements.
- Background check required prior to hire.
- Prior teaching or training experience preferred.
- Compliance with Higher Learning Commission, Faculty Quality Assurance Standards, and other job‑specific licensing requirements.
- Sitting required for extended periods while using computer systems.
- Occasional mobility for meetings or events.
- Fine motor skills needed for writing, demonstrating experiments, or using instructional technology.
- Capacity to perform repetitive motions such as typing.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills essential for interacting with staff, students, and stakeholders.
- Work may be conducted virtually, in hybrid formats, or in a traditional classroom setting.

Additional InformationHourly pay rate: $45.00 per hour. Pay is determined by experience, qualifications, education, certifications, and market data.
