Summary

Manages rebuild projects of existing machines (PM /Automation / FES) as well as critical larger PEC or Spare part orders from project conception to completion of the machine / component warranties. The projects will be completed on time, within budget and fulfillment of all technical and technological requirements. The project manager performs all project planning, project control, and project coordination.

Responsibilities
  • Assists the sales department during the proposal phase of the project. (OTO phase)
  • Obtains information needed by the technical areas to start the project. (Assemble internal and external project Manuals as needed per size of the project or components that are supplied)
  • Organizes internal and external Project kick off meetings.
  • Prepares the project organization and project resource needs with the technical managers.
  • Prepares the project time schedule in conjunction with the master scheduler. (Assists in break down the master project time schedule into individual team member time schedules).
  • Coordinates the project activities required for successful completion of the project.
  • Meets project deadlines and stays within project budget.
  • Monitor’s progress of project elements at home location as well as at other Voith - partner locations and key sub- suppliers.
  • Issues project specifications and directives to all Voith –partners (via Purchasing requisitions) and monitors adherence to project specifications.
  • Coordinates larger shipments together with the responsible buyer for the different materials.
  • Obtains the approvals of all required documents by the customer and other Voith partners.
  • Organizes and conducts project review meetings regularly with the customer and within Voith Paper.
  • Issues monthly project status reports to management.
  • Initiate corrections when the project progress strays from schedule.
  • Responsible for initiating project change notices and project claims as required for the project.
  • Assists with the planning and organizing of the erection/start-up and training phases of the project.
  • Participate in the start-up at the mill as required and by the size of the project.
  • Involved with the project through the completion of the performance guarantees.
  • Maintains the project action list and to coordinate the corrective actions to resolve the deficiencies.
  • Ensures that the completion/acceptance certificates are issued and signed by the customer.
  • Coordinate the resolution of warranty claims submitted by the customer.
  • Lead / assist in the negotiations for back charge claims together with assigned territory RSM or Mgmt.
  • Prepares and distribute a project closure and project summary report.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in the pulp and paper or supporting industry is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Controls, Chemical, Civil) or an associate degree in a related field with a corresponding work history.
  • A good mechanical aptitude with the ability to read mechanical drawings and bills of materials is required.
  • Travel will be required within the NAFTA region to visit Customer sites and follow up with suppliers with exposure to industrial environments.
  • Proficient in use of computers utilizing Windows based programs as well as being able to learn and utilize legacy systems as well as deep SAP know-how for everyday work requirements.
  • Strong communication skills, both, verbal and in writing with good customer relation skills.
