Miller Electric, an ITW company, is seeking a Sales Engineer to join our Engineering team within the Welding Accessories and Cutting Division. We are looking for someone eager to dive deep into our technical products and services in this customer-facing role. In this role, you will support technical sales by actively listening to customer needs, analyzing product features, and offering tailored support.

By partnering with Engineering, Marketing and Sales teams, you will ensure smooth customer transactions and elevate the overall product experience, building long-lasting partnerships and achieving successful sales outcomes in our fast-growing weld environment solutions segment of the division.

Responsibilities
  • Customer Engagement:
    Collaborates with internal (Miller) sales team, distributor partners and end-users to understand customer requirements.
  • Prepares and delivers technical presentations/product demonstrations to communicate the company’s product value propositions, performance and services to sales team, channel partners, and customers.
  • Helps customers understand product installation and service requirements through virtual meetings and onsite visits.
  • Solicits and documents customer and sales team feedback. Evaluating the data to further enhance customer experience satisfaction and drive new product features through planned innovation strategies.
  • Trains other internal and external stakeholders on the technical aspects of the company's products and services.
  • Prepares quotations for fume extraction system projects using quote software by selecting appropriate product, pricing, and establishing installation labor estimates.
Technical Design
  • Reviews plans and RFQs (Request for Quote) then produces quotes, technical support documentation and submittals to satisfy project and bid requirements.
  • Make recommendations with Application Engineering for designs of layouts/equipment needs and system requirements for customers.
  • Works with suppliers to communicate lead times and identify solutions.
Cross Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborates with project coordinator, sales, marketing, engineering, and materials teams.
  • Identifies areas for improvement and communicates issues to key stakeholders including leadership.
  • Works with Product Specialists to create and explain technical marketing collateral for presentations, trainings, demos and trades shows.
  • Assist the sales and product teams in the field as needed for customer visits, distributor visits and large trade shows. Assist in helping explain our processes and providing what differentiates.

What You Need To Do To Be Successful
  • Communication - Utilizing exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills to share technical information effectively to stakeholders and customers with various familiarity with the product.
  • Auto Cad Proficiency – Ability to review detailed drawings for customer installations and custom applications using Auto Cad/viewing software to understand product needs.
  • Problem-Solving - Demonstrating excellent technical and problem-solving abilities to address and resolve issues efficiently.
  • HVAC/Industrial Ventilation Knowledge – willing to learn basic principles of HVAC/industrial ventilation to design and layout ductwork as well as other components.
  • Leadership and Teamwork - Exhibiting strong leadership and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues and lead projects.
  • Sales and Customer Relationship Management - Use customer relationship management and sales skills to enhance customer interactions and drive business growth.
  • Process Ownership: working with a highly visible product line, take ownership of the process and communication with cross-functional areas to help deliver on key objectives and targets, with the goal to continue significant growth for the division.
  • Travel to suppliers and customer sites, and other responsibilities approximately 10% of the time, with occasional increases up to 25%.
