Project Engineer

In this role, you will be part of the Infrastructure & Transportation Practice focused on multi-modal transportation and infrastructure projects in Madison, WI, Appleton, WI or Milwaukee, WI. You will work on a variety of projects as a member of the infrastructure team, with opportunities across safety studies, multi-modal roadway planning, transit, highway design, design review and construction oversight.

• Perform and lead engineering design tasks for infrastructure projects from conceptual design to final design.
• Develop plans, specifications, quantities, and cost estimates.
• Possess excellent in-depth knowledge of roadway design software tools including Micro Station and Open Roads.
• Mentor and develop new engineers in transportation and highway design.
• Lead and coordinate design activities between staff, subcontractors, and clients.
• Perform technical analyses and reviews of infrastructure projects.
• Support Project Managers to ensure projects meet defined schedules, cost estimates, and performance/technical measures and specifications, including development of Project Management Plans, Scopes of Work, Cost Estimates, and other related activities.
• Assist in preparing and developing proposals, presentations, reports, and studies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• This position will also have the opportunity to work on CTA’s transformative Red Line Extension Design-Build project over the next few years.

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Engineering required; preferably in civil, transportation engineering.
• 4+ years of experience.
• Licensed PE in the State of Wisconsin.
• In-depth knowledge of Micro Station, Open Roads, and Civil3D.
• Strong technical design background in highway design and transportation engineering.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to direct and supervise staff engineers and technicians.
• Basic knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
