Title: Mechanical Estimator – Heavy Industrial Fabrication
Employment Type: Full-Time
About the Role
We are seeking a Mechanical Estimator to support complex heavy industrial metal fabrication projects. This role focuses on developing cost estimates for shop fabrication and field installation of custom metal components used in industrial facilities such as power plants, refineries, and manufacturing plants
.
This position is centered on industrial fabrication work
, rather than commercial buildings, solar projects, or electrical systems.
- Develop cost estimates and proposals for industrial metal fabrication and installation projects
- Prepare lump sum pricing, unit costs, and quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications
- Estimate fabrication shop labor
, materials, equipment, and field installation labor - Review project documents to identify scope considerations, risk areas, and constructability factors
- Collaborate with Operations, Procurement, and Project Teams to align on pricing strategies
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor pricing related to fabrication and installation
- Analyze historical project data to improve estimating accuracy over time
- Support value engineering and alternative pricing strategies
- Participate in internal estimate reviews and pre-bid discussions
- Document assumptions, clarifications, and estimate details to support clear project execution
- Experience working with industrial fabrication or heavy industrial construction projects
- Exposure to estimating fabricated metal work
, including shop and field activities - Familiarity with environments such as power plants, refineries, or manufacturing facilities
- Comfort reviewing drawings, specifications, and fabrication details
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across teams
- Project engineering or project management in industrial settings
- Fabrication shop leadership or hands-on fabrication roles with estimating exposure
- Construction or industrial engineering backgrounds
- Microsoft Excel and Office tools
- Estimating or pricing software such as Accubid, Quotesoft, or similar platforms
- ERP or reporting tools (Oracle, Power
BI, etc.)
- Collaborative environment with visibility across estimating, operations, and leadership
- Exposure to both fabrication shop and field installation work
- A role where your input directly influences project strategy and success
