General Job Summary
The GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Technician is a summer seasonal position. This position will assist GIS staff with implementation of various GIS projects using the latest ArcGIS technology to collect, build, edit, and maintain various GIS datasets. Field works and GIS data collection may also be required as needed. Receives daily work assignments and direction from GIS Coordinator & GIS/Utility Project Coordinator.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Implement indoor GIS mapping for commercial and industrial properties in the Town. | 50
- Link sanitary televising video to sanitary GIS datasets. | 20
- Link private utility plans to GIS datasets. | 10
- Assist with creating, editing, and maintaining Town utility datasets. | 10
- Perform other data collection and GIS related tasks as needed and assigned. | 10
- Perform additional duties as assigned and attend the Town required training. Regular attendance is required. Work in a manner that is aware of personal safety and the safety of others and observes safety, health and sanitation codes, regulations, or practices required by the Town or governmental authority.

RequiredMinimum Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Engineering or Urban Planning or closely related field.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:
- Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and/or other ESRI products.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software programs.
- Possess a valid WI driver’s license.
The Town may consider any equivalent amount of credentials, licensures, training, or experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of this job.
Equipment UsedTrimble R1, R2, and R12i survey equipment. General office equipment including telephone, computer, tablet, copier, fax, scanner, etc. and job specific software.
Working ConditionsPosition requires field work and may require infrequent exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Anticipated work hours are Monday thru Thursday, 6:30 AM to 4:00 PM and Friday, 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM; 40 hours per week for approximately 12 weeks during the Summer. Overtime may be available.

Tasks involve frequent sitting, standing and walking; some lifting and carrying objects of moderate weight (12-20 lbs); and, the operation of office and technology equipment, handheld devices, and vehicles, in which manipulative skills and hand-eye coordination are important for safe and productive operations. Ability to conduct field work and lift 50 pounds regularly, including in inclement weather conditions.
