Carex is partnering with an innovative manufacturing industry partner to hire a Project Engineering Manager. This role is responsible for leading the engineering organization to successfully develop and execute capital projects that support strategic growth initiatives.

The Project Engineering Manager will implement and standardize engineering processes across locations, ensuring alignment with a stage gate product development process. This position works closely with process design, R&D, manufacturing engineering teams, and senior leadership to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget. Chemical manufacturing experience is required.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead the execution of capital projects, ensuring delivery within established timeline, budget, performance, and safety metrics.
  • Implement and enforce standard engineering processes for capital project execution across all locations.
  • Ensure annual capital spending aligns with the approved capital budget.
  • Utilize external engineering resources as appropriate to develop solutions and implement best practices.
  • Ensure a gated project execution process is followed, with appropriate tools and methodologies in place.
  • Provide engineering tools and resources that optimize capital project execution.
  • Develop and maintain a five-year capital plan aligned with corporate strategic growth objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external engineering partners to support domestic and global project execution.
  • Partner with business development teams to align engineering resources with growth initiatives.
  • Prepare capital budgets, review bids, and negotiate contracts.
  • Manage project communications and reporting with senior leadership.
  • Provide specialized engineering expertise and support to production and product development teams.
  • Lead, coach, and develop direct reports through performance management, career development planning, and ongoing feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with Responsible Care (RC-14001) requirements, including adherence to plant procedures and environmental, health, safety, and security standards.
  • Identify and manage significant environmental aspects within the scope of the role and contribute to waste minimization, pollution prevention, energy conservation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial preferred).
  • 8+ years of industry experience.
  • 5+ years of experience leading large-scale capital projects.
  • Prior people leadership experience with demonstrated success developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong project management skills, including prioritization, problem solving, resource allocation, and business analytics.
  • Working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and Policy Deployment methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive projects forward within accelerated timelines.
  • Proven track record of driving organizational results and leading change initiatives.
  • Experience collaborating with R&D, process design, and manufacturing operations teams.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and lead effectively in dynamic environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Experience interfacing with internal and external customers and senior leadership.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
