Job Description
Miller Electric, an ITW company, is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join the Industrial Equipment and Automation team. The role focuses on finalizing component models and prints to industry standards, maintaining documentation consistency, and ensuring proper fitment through dimensioning, tolerancing, and advanced 3D modeling techniques.
How You Will Make An Impact Model and Print Finalization- Collaborate with engineers, materials, and manufacturing to keep documents accurate and current.
- Create, modify, and release prints and models within the Solid Works and PDM environments.
- Identify and correct missing details in complex prints.
- Ensure prints meet industry drafting standards and specific manufacturing requirements.
- Serve as a subject‑matter expert on documentation layout to ensure consistency across the company.
- Detail Oriented:
Accurately create documentation/prints consistently with industry‑accepted mechanical design standards. - Highly Motivated:
Take initiative and effectively manage multiple projects from start to completion. - Effective Communicator:
Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to present to large groups. - Collaborative:
Maintain open communication with all stakeholders to address challenges and share successes.
- 3D CAD modeling experience.
- Experience with PDM and ERP systems.
- Thorough understanding of engineering change process and Bill of Materials.
- Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Associate’s degree in mechanical design, drafting, or related field.
- Familiar with ASME Y14.100.
- Solid Works experience.
- Solid Works PDM experience.
- AutoCAD experience.
- Formal drafting training.
- D365 and Omnify experience.
- GD&T experience with ASME Y14.5.
- Basic grasp of machine and component design.
- Basic understanding of sheet metal manufacturing and design.
- Basic understanding of circuit and wiring diagrams.
- Basic understanding of injection molding design.
