Job Description
The Industrial Equipment Engineering team is seeking a Lab Technician to support and develop our products. The candidate will work closely with engineers, lab technicians, and production personnel to test, validate, and troubleshoot various power sources. Responsibilities include performing required lab tests, maintaining all applicable documentation related to engineering, reliability, and third‑party testing, diagnosing and correcting issues in released product and prototypes, and occasionally collaborating with manufacturing to resolve production or service‑related problems.
EssentialFunctions
- Ability to read and understand schematics and wiring diagrams
- Run engineering tests such as heat tests, VA curves, abnormal tests, third‑party certification testing, and new design verification testing
- Diagnose and correct issues arising in units from production, lab, and reliability tests (work with production, service, engineering, and marketing to solve field issues related to reliability and customer satisfaction)
- Conduct CSA, CAN/CSA‑E60974, CE, etc. tests and work with the Third‑Party Coordinator to construct, create, or modify third‑party reports
- Assist with maintaining the lab area and improving lab processes
- Two‑year technical degree in electronics, electro‑mechanical or related field
- Understand power source phase control and inverter topologies
- Team player with a positive attitude, high motivation, and excellent interpersonal skills who works well in a business‑unit environment with minimum supervision
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Macola and ability to write accurate and concise reports; limited travel may be required
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in engineering product development and/or support
- Knowledge of IEC and CSA certification requirements and hands‑on experience with IEC and CSA testing and technical report preparation
- Knowledge of induction heating
- Knowledge or experience with various welding processes
