Aircraft Layout Design Engineer

Position Purpose

Performs engineering work related to the investigation and solution of basic problems associated with research, design, development, service and manufacture of Gulfstream aircraft.

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related curriculum is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Entry level: 0–18 months of experience.

• Design and engineer standard and complex floor plans, producing 2‑d design packages using AutoCAD and Catia.
• Create carpet layout drawings, exterior marking drawings, emergency equipment layouts, and material call‑out drawings.
• Assist in the 3‑d design of new and derivative interior furnishings and amenities, including custom cabinetry, galleys, lavatories, storage compartments, water/waste systems, entertainment equipment installations, and seating installations.
• Employ design standards consistent with company standards and accepted design methods.
• Work under the direction of the Engineering Manager or Lead Engineer to meet customer up‑front schedules.
• Collaborate with Customer Completion Executives and Customer Delivery Managers.
• Provide technical assistance to engineering staff and complete discrete engineering tasks on schedule.
• Apply engineering knowledge to resolve routine issues using company procedures.
• Analyze and evaluate results of project activities.
• Prepare recommendations for changes and compile necessary reports for department supervision.
• Recognize discrepancies and work toward corrective action.
• Actively improve daily processes and ensure all work meets customer requirements.
• Continue learning and developing knowledge of application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in your field of expertise.

• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Catia for creating complicated 2‑d drawings from 3‑d models.
• Knowledge of Catia for assisting in the design of 3‑d models for aircraft interiors.
• Proficiency in managing resources and projects, and contributing significantly to the overall work effort.
• Ability to convey technical concepts in both written and verbal formats.
• High interaction with team members and ability to work under supervision.
