L&S Electric is looking for a candidate who can design and implement PLC control and protection systems for industrial and electrical generation facilities, and generate all related design work, including reports, documentation, and programming.
Responsibilities- Commission electrical, automation, and hydraulic systems.
- Program and troubleshoot PLC‑based control systems.
- Program and troubleshoot HMI and operator interfaces.
- Design electrical schematic diagrams, external wiring diagrams, field instrumentation systems, internal panel wiring drawings, and PLC drawings.
- Develop, test, and start‑up projects as requested.
- Interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Perform onsite inspections and project kick‑off meetings.
- Perform electrical calculations for system sizing and component selection.
- Conduct FAT, installation supervision, SAT, customer training, and system commissioning.
- Prepare O&M manuals, FAT, site acceptance test (SAT), and training documents.
- Support the division as needed.
- Utilize electrical and hydraulic test equipment.
- Collaborate with control, electrical, HMI, and mechanical disciplines.
- Assist designers in developing drawings.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a technical degree plus 3 years of related experience.
- Ability to travel more than 30% domestically and internationally.
- Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job.
- Familiarity with power generation equipment, turbine governors, or excitation systems.
- Strong conceptual and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues to decision makers and project teams.
- Experience with AutoCAD or EPlan.
- USA or Canadian professional engineering registration or the ability to become registered.
- Ability to travel to Canada.
- Work independently and in a team with minimal supervision.
- Wear required personal protective equipment.
- Work for any employer in the United States.
- Fluent in English.
- Attention to detail.
- Proficient use of PC and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.
- Sign confidentiality agreement.
- Complete work requirements as required.
- Execute multiple projects simultaneously.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Valid passport or ability to obtain one.
- Willingness to learn new skills and approaches.
- Aerial work may be required.
- Environmental conditions vary by facility (heat, noise, etc.).
- Occasional lifting of heavy objects.
- Uneven or slippery walking surfaces.
- Work performed at customer sites and L&S Electric facilities.
