Operations Engineer I – GAC Appleton

Job DescriptionUnder minimal supervision, the engineer prepares, conducts, and evaluates analyses for operations process optimization and problem solving in manufacturing.
- Provide and maintain detailed work instructions, drive quality and efficiency improvements, and coordinate engineering and tooling changes.
- Perform RC & RCA analysis on quality defects.
- Conduct technical studies and analyses of operations, define equipment and tooling needs.
- Assist in make‑or‑buy proposals, evaluate vendors, and resolve vendor issues.
- Research and analyze assigned projects for conformance to requirements.
- Investigate and prepare justification for equipment and facility improvements.
- Perform producibility studies from engineering drawings.
- Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements.
- Incorporate Lean Manufacturing Methodology into processes.
- Lead or coordinate implementation of projects across organizations.
- Apply Lean and Six Sigma principles.
- Support safety, sustainability, and ergonomic initiatives.
- Assist in development of the Business Continuity Plan.
- Ensure quality policies are practiced and recommend improvements.
- Maintain accurate daily/weekly activity status.
- Can function as Operations Manager substitute.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent education and experience.
- Knowledge of engineering configuration requirements, tooling, quality control, safety, blueprint reading, and shop math.
- Ability to operate computer equipment such as PCs and CATIA.
- Basic knowledge of Lean and/or Six Sigma principles.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
