Operations Engineer I – GAC Appleton

Under minimal supervision, the engineer prepares, conducts, and evaluates analyses for operations process optimization and problem solving in manufacturing.

• Provide and maintain detailed work instructions, drive quality and efficiency improvements, and coordinate engineering and tooling changes.
• Perform RC & RCA analysis on quality defects.
• Conduct technical studies and analyses of operations, define equipment and tooling needs.
• Assist in make‑or‑buy proposals, evaluate vendors, and resolve vendor issues.
• Research and analyze assigned projects for conformance to requirements.
• Investigate and prepare justification for equipment and facility improvements.
• Perform producibility studies from engineering drawings.
• Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements.
• Incorporate Lean Manufacturing Methodology into processes.
• Lead or coordinate implementation of projects across organizations.
• Apply Lean and Six Sigma principles.
• Support safety, sustainability, and ergonomic initiatives.
• Assist in development of the Business Continuity Plan.

• Ensure quality policies are practiced and recommend improvements.
• Maintain accurate daily/weekly activity status.
• Can function as Operations Manager substitute.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent education and experience.
• Knowledge of engineering configuration requirements, tooling, quality control, safety, blueprint reading, and shop math.
• Ability to operate computer equipment such as PCs and CATIA.
• Basic knowledge of Lean and/or Six Sigma principles.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
