** Job Summary
** This position is responsible for the planning, coordination, and oversight of the project's Waste Package Certification (WPC) program and processes. The WPC Supervisor provides direct supervision of Waste Package Certification personnel, coordinates certification activities with Waste Management, Radiation Protection, Engineering, Operations, transportation providers, and disposal facilities, and supports the Waste Project Manager in ensuring compliant packaging, certification, transportation, and disposal of radioactive waste.

The position serves as the primary supervisor for waste package certification activities and ensures compliance with applicable Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC), NRC, DOT, site, and disposal facility requirements.

** Job Duties/Tasks/Responsibilities
*** Promote and maintain a visible safety culture by participating in and reinforcing safe work behaviors among Waste Package Certification personnel.
* Function as the primary supervisor for waste package certification activities and assign technical responsibilities to certification personnel and subject matter experts as required.
* Direct and oversee waste package certification activities to ensure compliance with approved Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC), waste profiles, NRC regulations, DOT regulations, site requirements, and disposal facility requirements.
* Manage and oversee waste container inspections and certification reviews to verify package integrity, loading configuration, regulatory compliance, and shipment readiness.
* Coordinate with Waste Management, Radiation Protection, Engineering, Operations, transportation providers, and disposal facilities to ensure compliant packaging, certification, shipment preparation, and waste disposition activities.
* Provide input to the Waste Project Manager regarding certification resource needs, shipment planning, waste forecasts, and project schedules.
* Oversee package certifications, disposal documentation, and supporting records.
* Coordinate certification support activities including characterization reviews, radionuclide inventory verification, package loading record reviews, and disposal documentation validation.
* Perform routine field observations of certification activities and implement corrective actions to improve safety, compliance, quality, and operational efficiency.
* Coordinate with the Waste Project Manager to maintain safe and efficient waste packaging and transportation operations.
* Lead development, mentoring, and qualification of Waste Package Certification personnel.
* Review and revise certification procedures, checklists, forms, and governing program documents to ensure compliance with corporate, project, regulatory, and disposal facility requirements.
* Participate in routine project planning meetings to ensure waste certification requirements are incorporated into decommissioning and waste packaging activities.
* Support information sharing and continuous improvement efforts within Energy
* Solutions* Waste Management and Operational Waste Management organizations.
* Maintain accurate records and documentation associated with certification activities and ensure document retention requirements are satisfied.

** Minimum Education, Experience and Certification Requirements** | ||
*** Education**
* * Bachelorâ€TMs degree recommended or equivalent combination of education and experience |
*** Certifications**
* * 40 hour HAZWORKER training
* DOT Hazardous Materials Training (49 CFR 172 Subpart H)
* Q Clearance,   the ability to obtain a Q clearance, or the ability to obtain site unescorted access
* Certified Broker preferred ||
*** Required Experience**
* * Minimum 1 year of nuclear industry experience
* Minimum 1 year of experience in radioactive waste packaging, certification, transportation, waste operations, or related waste management activities
