Volunteer Position
The Appleton Redevelopment Authority is made up of six citizen members whose terms are five years, and one alderperson whose term is one year. All are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by a vote of Council. Authorization to establish the Authority comes from Wisconsin Statutes §66.1333 entitled "Blight Elimination and Slum Clearance." Once established by resolution, the Authority has exclusive power to proceed to carry on the blight elimination, slum clearance, and urban renewal projects.
It is deemed an independent, separate, and distinct public body. Among its powers are the authorities to: prepare and carry out redevelopment and urban renewal plans within the corporate limits of the City; acquire by various means property necessary to a redevelopment or urban renewal project; and other powers as set forth in the Wisconsin Statutes. Term: 5 year term (April 2026-April 3031)--1 vacancy.
Meetings:
The Appleton Redevelopment Authority meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 9:00 a.m., in Committee Room 6A/B.
Appleton residency is required for this appointment.
All volunteer positions are unpaid and non-benefited.
