DATCP currently has two openings for Environmental Enforcement Specialist
positions within the Division of Agricultural Resource Management, Bureau of Agrichemical Management.

These are field-based positions and will be assigned a fleet vehicle for work-related travel. The selected applicants can select a headquarter in one of the following counties:

Northwest position counties:
Ashland, Barron, Bayfield, Burnett, Chippewa, Douglas, Polk, Rusk, Sawyer, St Croix, and Washburn

Southeast position counties:
Jefferson, Washington, and Waukesha

Qualifying candidates are not required to live in a county headquarter location. However, reimbursement for commuting to or from the employee’s assigned headquarters is not provided (e.g., mileage, meals, parking, lodging, etc.). Routine travel within an assigned territory and throughout the state for assigned work and emergency response is required.

Position Summary

These positions perform environmental enforcement, remediation, investigation and compliance work for a wide variety of agrichemical programs. These positions represent the department in a multi-district region of the state. These positions are responsible for assisting with field oversight for environmental investigation and remediation projects related to improper handling or storage of pesticides or fertilizers. These positions will work cooperatively with the bureau's regulatory program managers, engineers and hydro geologists, as well as Environmental Enforcement Specialists at the Senior and Advanced level.

These positions are responsible for investigation and compliance involving use or suspected misuse of pesticides. Additional responsibilities include enforcement of both state and federal laws and regulations related to pesticides, medicated commercial animal feeds, fertilizers and related agricultural products. These positions are responsible for encouraging and promoting voluntary compliance with program laws, and for investigation and subsequent enforcement of violations of those laws.

These positions have broad field enforcement powers to correct situations to protect the environment, animals, humans and the human food chain.
