Position Summary
CVS Health is looking for a 3rd‑year Pharmacy Intern to support pharmacy teams in our retail locations. The Intern will apply learning from pharmacy school in real‑world practice, completing a training roadmap that includes Key Learning Experiences, activities, and time with district leaders. The Intern will assist with pharmacy operations, patient prescription fulfillment, and patient interactions, and will follow Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safe, accurate, and compassionate care.
Responsibilities- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap focused on core pharmacy competencies.
- Support pharmacy teams to keep operations running smoothly, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Follow SOPs at each workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, drop‑off) and maintain a safe, inclusive culture.
- Provide patient‑centered service, demonstrating empathy, offering immunizations, counseling, and triaging medical questions under pharmacist supervision.
- Process telephonic prescriptions, clarify prescriptions with prescribers, and facilitate medication changes within state regulation limits.
- Assist with inventory activities, including cycle counts and returns‑to‑stocks, as directed.
- Deliver additional patient health care services such as immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and off‑site clinic staffing where authorized.
- Complete required training within the designated timeframe and maintain attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Maintain focus and pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
- Confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety.
- Use strong verbal and written communication skills, active listening, and problem‑resolution skills in interactions with patients and colleagues.
- Accepted into or actively enrolled in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Possess or be in the process of obtaining valid intern and/or technician licensure as required.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe.
- +1 year of related pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer‑service experience.
- Ability to become immunization certified when state regulations allow.
- Willingness to work in multiple store locations to meet business needs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
$18.50 – $20.25 per hour.
Physical Demands- Opportunity to remain mobile and upright for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs and/or exerting up to 20 lbs of force; frequently lifting up to 10 lbs.
