Staff Pharmacist

Overview

At CVS Health, the Staff Pharmacist plays a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence in the pharmacy. You will support the Pharmacy Manager in leading and directing the pharmacy team, ensuring safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices. You will amplify our purpose by managing and improving patient health through safe medication practices and a compassionate patient experience.

• Take direction from the Pharmacy Manager and oversee the pharmacy as proxy during bench shifts without overlap.
• Strengthen pharmacy performance measures through effective coaching and consistent follow‑up of pharmacy team members; provide feedback to the Pharmacy Manager as needed.
• Assume Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist‑on‑duty.
• Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following and directing the pharmacy team to follow workflow procedures and safety guardrails at every workstation.
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care; coach the pharmacy team to demonstrate compassionate care, collaborate with the patient’s healthcare team, and resolve insurance or medication issues.
• Proactively offer and deliver immunizations; engage and support Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize.
• Manage pharmacy inventory, including protecting cold‑chain products, by following and coaching best practices.
• Partner with the Pharmacy Manager to ensure operations comply with state Board of Pharmacy regulations; escalating issues as needed.
• Maintain flexibility for scheduling and business needs; support the Pharmacy Manager by writing the pharmacy schedule as directed.
• Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills through required trainings and continuing medical education; seek opportunities to expand knowledge to better support patients.
• Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services where permissible.
• Comply with all relevant laws, regulations, professional standards, and CVS Health policies to ensure patient safety and a safe, inclusive workplace.

• Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
• Complete required training within designated timeframe.
• Ability to concentrate on tasks and pivot quickly to meet patient and business needs.
• Confirm prescription information and label accuracy for patient safety.
• Actively help people in a friendly manner and respond appropriately to patient reactions.
• Use and understand verbal and written communication, listening actively, asking questions, and not interrupting.
• Apply mathematical reasoning to determine supplies and prescription requirements.
• Resolve challenging patient or colleague interactions by choosing the best course of action.

• Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods; lift, scan, and bag items up to 20 lbs; handle repetitive finger movements; reach overhead; evaluate visual acuity for small tasks.

• Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located.
• Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
• Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list.

• 1–2 years of related pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service experience.
• Ability to work in other locations across the market as business needs require.

Hourly pay range: $60.00 – $76.00. Position is eligible for bonus, commission, or short‑term incentive programs in addition to base pay. Benefits include medical, dental, vision coverage; paid time off; retirement savings options; wellness programs; and other resources as eligible.
