Senior Infrastructure Engineer - IT Systems and M365

Job Title & Location

Senior Infrastructure Engineer – IT Systems & Microsoft 365 (Contract) – Remote (approximately 90%) with periodic onsite work in Southern Wisconsin.

Codeworks, an LRS company, is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to apply hands‑on technical expertise in IT operations, Microsoft 365 administration, and infrastructure initiatives while supporting meaningful work for one of our client partners.

• IT Operations & Support
  • Provide Tier 2/3 end‑user support across endpoints, collaboration tools, and core SaaS platforms.
  • Manage device lifecycle activities, including workstation replacements and operating system updates.
  • Support and enhance telephony, conferencing, and collaboration technologies.
• Microsoft 365 Administration (Core Responsibility)
  • Administer the Microsoft 365 environment, including:
    • Entra  (Azure AD)
    • Exchange Online
    • SharePoint and One Drive
    • Microsoft Defender and related security controls
    • Licensing and tenant configuration
  • Support and expand Microsoft Copilot usage for productivity, note‑taking, and intranet solutions.
• Infrastructure & Security
  • Lead infrastructure refresh and risk mitigation initiatives involving servers, storage, virtualization strategy, firewalls, and endpoint tools.
  • Coordinate endpoint and network security improvements, such as firewall updates, phishing protection enhancements, and endpoint security tooling updates.
  • Implement alerting and observability solutions.
  • Oversee physical security systems, including badge access, alarms, and intrusion detection.
• Compliance & Risk Management
  • Support IT audit remediation efforts in alignment with regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to enterprise risk assessments and compliance initiatives (e.g., CAT, nRisk).
  • Maintain documentation, controls, and audit evidence to support compliance standards.
• Project & Vendor Management
  • Manage multiple IT initiatives from planning through execution.
  • Coordinate with vendors, managed service providers, and solution partners.
  • Enhance internal IT project management practices and documentation.

Base range: $73.00 – $87.00 per hour, depending on experience. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors.
