Position Summary
The S&OP / Inventory Health Intern will support the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) team in the areas of inventory analysis, data validation, reporting, and process documentation. This role will partner closely with the Senior S&OP Planner to help drive visibility into inventory health across the distribution network, support brand-level and DC-level deep dives, and contribute to ongoing continuous improvement initiatives.
The S&OP / Inventory Health Intern will support the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) team in the areas of inventory analysis, data validation, reporting, and process documentation. This role will partner closely with the Senior S&OP Planner to help drive visibility into inventory health across the distribution network, support brand-level and DC-level deep dives, and contribute to ongoing continuous improvement initiatives.
The intern will gain hands‑on experience with advanced planning tools (Logility, D365), analytics platforms (Power BI, Claude), and cross-functional collaboration with Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Category, and Operations teams. This role supports the S&OP process but does not own final demand, supply, or inventory decisions. U.S. Venture’s Internship Program runs May - August. Dates may vary based on individual class schedules.
This position is located at our Corporate Office in Appleton, WI.
- Support weekly and monthly inventory health reviews across the DC network (Healthy / Watch / At‑Risk / Critical categorization).
- Assist in pulling, cleaning, and validating Logility planning attribute snapshots and Power BI data extracts.
- Conduct brand-level and SKU-level inventory deep dives (ABC/XYZ segmentation, service level targets vs. actuals).
- Help identify root causes of inventory imbalances and document findings for the Senior S&OP Planner's review.
- Support development and maintenance of S&OP KPI scorecards (OTIF, service level, fill rate, inventory turns, forecast accuracy).
- Assist in preparing recurring reporting packages for bi‑weekly S&OP check‑ins and Executive S&OP forums.
- Compile data for warehouse capacity‑constrained sites, receiving backlogs, and past‑due PO exposure.
- Support validation of new reports built by the ISA / DNA team.
- Help clean up and standardize SOPs for planning processes (delete record process, low volume process, buy-to-backorder logic, etc.).
- Support the SKU rationalization initiative through data gathering and item‑level review.
- Assist with maintenance of global filters and inventory parameters in Logility.
- Contribute ideas for process improvements and automation opportunities.
- Partner with Demand Planners, Supply Planners, Category Managers, and Replenishment Analysts on ad‑hoc analysis.
- Participate in S&OP process meetings (demand review, supply review, inventory reconciliation) to build understanding of the end‑to‑end process.
- Support special projects tied to the Chain sight, Logility, and inventory optimization roadmap.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Analytics, Data Science, Operations, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, basic formulas) and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and cross‑functionally.
- Coursework or prior internship experience in supply chain, inventory management, or data analytics.
- Exposure to Power BI, SQL, or advanced planning tools (Logility, SAP, Oracle, D365).
- Interest in pursuing a career in supply chain planning, S&OP, or analytics.
