Resource Development Leader

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Fox Valley is searching for an experienced and accomplished resource development leader to work in partnership with a CEO that understands the process and magic of major gift fundraising. The CEO's support of philanthropy and already well-established expectations of the Board supply a strong foundation for continued growth.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Fox Valley has a strong fundraising track record also and the individual selected for this opportunity should be able to leverage that success to design and implement a comprehensive fund development program that further advances the organization's service to over 14,000 young people each year.

Design a comprehensive development strategy, identifying funds needed, funding targets, and tactics. Provide leadership and direction to the CEO and Board in the effective execution of all resource development activities. Form, develop and manage a team of resource development professionals of sufficient skill, talent, and number necessary to successfully execute fundraising plans.

• Identify staffing needs for major campaigns and ongoing development activities.
• Interview and hire team members.
• Actively mentor and otherwise support the professional development of all resource development team members.
• Oversee the resource development team, extending and sustaining values-based culture built on autonomy, mastery and purpose throughout.

Develop and implement tactical plans for single and multi-year resource development efforts in partnership with the CEO and the Board that feature:

• Research and analysis of agency, corporate, individual and foundation donors and prospective donors, their capacity and philanthropic interests, and their preferred ways of being approached and engaged.
• Preparation and presentation of proposals for corporate and foundation support of the Club.
• Best practice donor stewardship activities.
• Best-in-class special events that bring sufficient numbers of donors closer to the organization's mission and expand its base of support.
• Direct mail.
• Planned giving.
• Annual campaigns.
• Giving incentives such as matching gift challenges.
• Various other fund-raising projects or initiatives assigned by the CEO.

Ensure the use of on-going continuous improvement processes inclusive of tools such as PDSA's, aim statements, and other practices that enhance learning and lead to fundraising success.

Assist in finding, recruiting, and training board members. Motivate and support committees responsible for planning and performing resource development activities.

Control Resource Development Department expenditures within budget and maintain donor and financial records in accordance with industry standards and ethics. Ensure the productive, ethical, and effective performance of all Resource Development Department team members.

In collaboration with the CEO, provide direction and support to the organization's Marketing & Communications Coordinator to build organizational awareness and maintain the public trust. Support the development and distribution of marketing documents including the annual report and regular donor development and stewardship communications.

Proven success in resource development for a large nonprofit and experience running major/capital campaigns and success fundraising from multiple donor channels.

Experience in planning, leading, and managing development projects, including coordinating with peers to achieve desired outcomes, and tracking and reporting on progress to senior managers/board of directors.
